Takoyaki are one of Japan’s best known street foods originating in Osaka. Small pieces of octopus are encased in batter and cooked in a perfectly round ball. The creamy inside and chewy octopus are complemented with a generous topping of takoyaki sauce, mayo, katsuobushi (shaved dried bonito flakes) and ao-nori dried seaweed. 屋台の味の王様、外はカリッと香はしく中はシューシー、たこ焼きて今年もあなたの祭りを!
Juicy on the inside, crispy and golden brown on the outside, these Japanese pan-fried dumplings or “gyoza” are made from ground pork, fresh cabbage and Japanese chive. One order has 5 mouth-watering dumplings with dipping sauce. 粗挽きの豚挽肉、白菜、ニラを使用し、新鮮な野菜かたっふり入った餃子はいくらても食へられる。餃子も皮かモチモチて噛むと肉汁かシュワッと出てきてもちろん美味しい。

With a sweet buttery taste, these lightly boiled, perfectly salted soybeans or “edamame” are a classic Japanese snack. A healthy way to add some extra protein to your meal! 甘みや旨味か凝縮されて美味しい枝豆てす。
The distinct flavour of yuzu (an Asian citrus similar to lemon and grapefruit) blends with the richness of cream cheese and a touch of vanilla. It’s a tart, fragrant and citrusy treat! 今回はクリスマスにもおすすめ、柚子(ゆす)を使った爽やかなチースケーキ発売中てす!
Ordered katsu kare (my favourite) last night and an extra yakisoba for next day lunch. Super easy to reheat in a pan (don’t need to add anything) and good as new!
Takedon is the definition of a hidden gem. Tucked in a commercial building by the Arboretum, their food is not only hearty and delicious but in dire short supply in Ottawa. We have many sushi restaurants in town, but what Takedon brings is the food you’ll find in the cafeterias, back alleys and homes of Japan. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do!
I ordered this on ubereats and was not disappointed. Food is very fresh. They even packaged the fried food separately from the curry so it does not get sogggy. I lived in East Asia for a long time and this is pretty spot on. It's a shame I discovered this as soon as I was moving back to Korea.
Hidden gem in Ottawa! Happy that I found this place. Food are freshly cooked and delicious. Gyudon beef bowl brings me back to Japan. The ginger pork tastes like my Japanese grandma cooked. Parking is a bit tricky. I parked along the building on green valley. Too bad this place doesn’t have dine in.
The best new authentic Japanese takeout in Ottawa! I’m from Barrhaven and it was a 15 minute distance for an authentic food. Loved the Tonkatsu pork and it makes me willing for more! I highly recommend you try this new Japanese takeout and you will come again!
Heard about this place from BBC and finally got a try. The gyudon beef is so tender and tasted just like Yoshinoya’s in the Japan. The teriyaki chicken is so flavorful too. The place is in an office building and unfortunately has no dine in.
We ordered a bunch of things, maybe because the review, I had higher expectations. The food is mediocre, just like most Japanese places in Ottawa. The beef was quite fatty. Service is fast and well packaged for takeouts. Good to support local business, but I wouldn’t call it exceptional.
The owner of this restaurant is very nice, and the service is attentive. It has an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs cooking right in front of you, and the hygiene standards are excellent. I’ve eaten here many times, and the flavors are authentic—just the way I like my Japanese food. The menu is diverse, with a great selection of snacks and drinks as well.
